How to place toilet paper correctly to avoid bacteria? Here what experts say

Although it may seem like a minor issue, the way toilet paper is placed in home bathrooms can determine whether it is full of bacteria or not, according to experts.

According to a study carried out by the University of Colorado in the United States, and published in the journal Plos One, the correct way to place toilet paper in the bathroom is with the loose end facing out.

The study indicates that in this way the paper roll is prevented from coming into contact with the wall, which can be contaminated with bacteria and germs found on the surfaces of a toilet.

The specialists analyzed 12 public bathrooms and found 19 groups of bacteria on the doors, floors, dispensers and walls. Some of these microbes often cause urinary infections, gastroenteritis, diarrhea and even respiratory diseases.

In that sense, let’s explain that if the sheets of toilet paper touch the bathroom walls, they can become contaminated with these bacteria, which will then be transferred to the skin of those who use it.

Placing the paper in this way also makes it easier to take and prevents further waste.
