One inmate was killed and two others were injured after a series of stabbings at the same Fulton County jail where former President Donald Trump was recently booked and could be housed if convicted in Georgia.
Multiple stabbings were reported at the prison Thursday afternoon, with at least one person fatally injured, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said.
It is not clear how the stabbings occurred or what the conditions of the other two inmates were.

Police believe the stabbings occurred during a gang-related incident on the seventh floor of the jail, FOX 5 reports.
The prison has risen to the national spotlight after the US Department of Justice opened an investigation into the death of LaShawn Thompson, an inmate whose body was found “eaten alive by bedbugs” in 2022.
Thompson, who only served about three months after his arrest on misdemeanor simple assault, was housed in a decrepit cell in the psychiatric wing with his body covered in dirt and insects.
His family won a $4 million settlement earlier this year.

In addition to Thursday’s stabbing, nine inmates have died at the prison so far this year, and five of those deaths occurred in the last month.
The shocking prison record drew criticism from Trump last week after the former president was arrested and briefly jailed on charges of trying to illegally overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.
“It’s violent. The building is falling apart. Inmates have dug their fingers into the dilapidated walls and ripped off chunks to form over 1,000 legs,” Trump claimed in a fundraising email to his supporters last Friday. “It’s worse than you can imagine. This year alone, 7 inmates have died in that jail.
“Seeing the third-world state of that prison made me even more determined to run for president and save our country from permanent decline,” Trump added.

Trump, a notorious germaphobe, could well see the dilapidated prison become his new home if he is convicted of any of the 13 charges against him.
In addition to the repugnant conditions reported at the prison, the Justice Department is also investigating violence at the facility, possible discrimination against people with disabilities, access to health care and other alleged violations.
