A traveler traveling from Rani Kamlapati to Jabalpur aboard the Vande Bharat Express on February 1 was “traumatized” when he discovered a dead cockroach in his food.

Disembarking at Jabalpur railway station, he quickly lodged an official complaint with West Central Railway.

Two days after the incident, the individual went to platform X to share his experience. Responding to the tweet, IRCTC acknowledged the complaint and apologized to the affected passenger.

“During my journey on February 1, 2024, on train number 20173 from Rani Kamlapati to Jabalpur (Vande Bharat Express), I was deeply disturbed to find a dead cockroach inside the food packet provided to me,” said Dr. Shubhendu Keshari while sharing Multiple images on X platform.

The opening image shows the formal complaint filed by Dr. Keshari with West Central Railway – Jabalpur, where he mentioned his traveling companion Rajesh Shrivastava as a witness.

Later images reveal the presence of the deceased cockroach inside the non-vegetarian thali he had ordered.

After the tweet gained a lot of attention, IRCTC apologized to the passenger and said, “Sir, we sincerely apologize for your experience. The matter is being considered seriously and a hefty fine has been imposed by the service provider concerned. Additionally , supervision at the source has been strengthened.”
