Twitter Inc co-founder Jack Dorsey said on Wednesday that he has no intention of returning to lead the social media giant, meaning he will have a restricted role if Elon Musk’s acquisition deal is successful. According to the Reuters news agency, Musk was in talks with Dorsey to donate his shares to the planned acquisition, according to a recent regulatory filing.
Dorsey, who is currently the CEO of Block Inc, reportedly has a 2.4 percent stake in Twitter.
Dorsey was ousted as CEO of Twitter in 2008, two years after the company was founded. In 2015, he regained the role until handing it over to CTO Parag Agarwal in 2021.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, bought Twitter for $44 billion on April 25. Musk could reportedly temporarily take over the social media company.

Meanwhile, former CEO Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk agreed on Wednesday to reactivate former US President Donald Trump’s Twitter account. Dorsey clarified his position and said that he agreed with Elon Musk that permanent bans are a failure.
“It was a business decision that should not have been made, and we must always review and adapt our decisions as necessary. Permanent people bans are, as I indicated in that discussion, directionally incorrect,” Dorsey explained.
