“The combat got out of hand. Maybe I should update my avatar,” he explained in the caption.
In an August 2022 interview, Zuckerberg stated that he originally began studying this martial art form during the COVID-19 pandemic and that the activity offered him a boost of energy.
“MMA is perfect,” Zuckerberg told podcast host Joe Rogan. “After an hour or two of working out, rolling or wrestling with friends, or training with different people, it’s like you’re now ready to solve any problem of the day at work.”
On the podcast, the billionaire also mentioned that he works with coach Dave Camarillo, who helped him win gold and silver medals in his first jiu-jitsu match in May.

“I won some medals for the Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu team in my first jiu jitsu tournament,” he wrote on Facebook at the time. “Many thanks to Dave Camarillo, Khai Wu and James Terry for their instructions!”
What did the coach say about Mark?
Camarillo honored Zuckerbeg’s successes on Instagram and said he was “honored” to coach, teach and learn from his student.
“Throughout my career, I have had the luxury of witnessing incredible people achieve incredible things. And I have had the honor of playing a small role in their lives,” Camarillo added of Zuckerberg’s victories as “one of those cases.” .

“It’s inspiring to see someone so well-known challenge himself in a new arena,” he said. “This shows how amazing the art of Jiu-Jitsu is. It transforms you, it strengthens your willpower, it’s magical. It also attracts really motivated people.”
“You are truly an incredible person,” the martial artist and coach closed his statement. “Thank you for sharing your drive, enthusiasm and generosity with all of us!”
In July, Zuckerberg returned the favor by congratulating Camarillo on earning his fifth-degree black belt in the sport. “You are a great coach and I have learned a lot about wrestling and life training with you,” he wrote alongside photos of him and Camarillo being honored.
“It’s also an honor to be promoted to compete at the blue belt for team @guerrillajjsanjose,” Zuckerberg added, hinting that he has progressed from the basic white belt.
