1975 – India imposes harshest press censorship since independence
In the context of the anti-government protests during the India Emergency, the Center implemented the most rigorous press censorship since independence.
1820 – Tomato has been shown to be a non-poisonous vegetable
As the story goes, it was Colonel Johnson who on September 26, 1820 proved once and for all that tomatoes are non-poisonous and safe to eat. He stood on the steps of the Salem courthouse and bravely consumed an entire basket of tomatoes without passing out or suffering any ill effects.

1969 – The Stonewall riots begin in New York’s Greenwich Village.
Sometime after midnight on June 28, 1969, in what is now considered by many to be the first major protest in history in the name of equal rights for LGBTQ people, a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay club located on Christopher Street in New York City. it turns violent when customers and local supporters begin to riot against the authorities.
1919 – The Treaty of Versailles is signed
On June 28, 1919, the Treaty of Versailles was signed at the Palace of Versailles outside of Paris, France. The treaty was one of several that officially ended a five-year conflict known as the Great War: World War I.
