‘Just take me to jail,’ New Jersey man caught sitting in police cruiser with pipe of meth pleads with police

A New Jersey man was caught sitting on the hood of an unmarked police cruiser with a pipe of methamphetamine and begged officers to lock him up, authorities said Thursday.

Cody Zeigler, 27, was riding on top of the police car in the parking lot of the Hackettstown Police Department headquarters around 11 a.m. Wednesday when an officer confronted him, police said.

“Just take me to jail,” Zeigler pleaded, according to police.

Hackettstown Police Department Cody Zeigler was riding on top of the police car in the parking lot of the Hackettstown Police Department headquarters.

He then pointed to a pipe he had placed on top of the patrol car that contained suspected methamphetamine residue, police said.

Zeigler was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct, police said.

He was lodged at the Warren County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.
