The school bus driver hits the jackpot! A Kentucky school bus driver, James Keown, happily quit his job after winning a big lottery. Having dedicated more than a decade to Jefferson County Public Schools, he is now ready to enjoy a much-deserved retirement vacation.

Things in James’ life improved when he bought a Powerball ticket for the Kentucky Lottery and, surprisingly, four of his cue ball numbers turned out to be a perfect match. That earned him an epic lottery prize of $50,000 (Rs. 41 lakhs). However, his luck had not run out yet.
With a little ingenuity, Keown managed to double his winnings with a power play. He recounted: “I looked at it four times… that number has to change, but it didn’t. I thought I’d better see what I had won.”
He remembered the moment when his life changed completely. “The first time I saw that she had won $50,000 and then I thought, wait a minute, I play the multiplier all the time, so I came back and the multiplier was two.”
And with that being said, the bus driver wasted no time in changing the course of his life and calling his boss. “I called my boss on Sunday and told him ‘I won the lottery and I’m not coming back’ … I loved my job, but I had been thinking about retiring for a while,” he explained.
James and his wife have already made plans for the future

James’s wife, Monta, is elated by his victory and its implications for both of them. However, due to taxes, James will not receive the full $100,000 lottery prize. After deductions, his earnings amount to $71,500 (Rs. 59 lakhs). In addition to the deductions, the Circle K store where James purchased the winning ticket will also keep 1 percent of the prize, which amounts to $1,000.
However, James has already resolved his plans for the future. As a cat lover, he has expressed his desire to use this money to support local cat rescue shelters. The couple also plans to buy a lake house and spend the rest of their lives together in peace.
