He is well-known for the victory of the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII as he was one of the members of that team’s coaching staff.

Matt started his professional football coaching career in 2003 by joining Smyrna High School in Tennessee in the post of an assistant coach. He worked there till 2004. Then he joined Stanford University in 2005 from where he also did his post-graduation. Matt worked there for 3 years as a graduate assistant. In 2009, he joined the Baltimore Ravens as an assistant coach under John Harbaugh. He gathered much appreciation while the first victory of Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl. In 2014, he became the assistant in charge of linebackers. He become the running backs coach of the Baltimore Ravens in 2019.
In 2021, he joined the Michigan Wolverines as their quarterback coach. and under his guidance, the Wolverines won their 1st match of Big Ten Championship but lost the finals to Georgia Bulldogs. In December 2022, Matt was placed under an investigation of crimes, accessed by computers and he was placed on leaves. The crimes were proved right and on the 20th of January 2023, Michigan Wolverines fired Matt Weiss from the position of their quarterback coach.
