Melania Trump is pushing for her husband to choose Tucker Carlson as his 2024 running mate if he wins the Republican presidential nomination, according to a report.
The former first lady believes the former Fox News host would be a “powerful onstage extension” of her husband, former President Donald Trump, according to Axios.
But there is stiff competition, as Trump, 77, is also considering candidates with more political experience for the No. 2 spot, including Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. and representatives Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), according to the outlet.
Kari Lake, who lost her bid for Republican governor of Arizona in 2022 and is now running for the US Senate in that state, is also among the “loyal” types Trump is reportedly considering for vice president.
Even though Carlson is Melania’s preferred choice, the former president’s staff and those close to him fear that Carlson will “overshadow” Donald Trump and that the talk show host “cannot be controlled,” according to Axios.

A Trump campaign aide told The Post that Trump is not looking beyond the GOP primaries and denied the Axios report.
“The Axios story is pure fiction,” the aide said. “Unless there is a formal announcement from President Trump or his campaign team, then it is just speculation and not coming from us. “President Trump is focused solely on winning the Republican nomination and then defeating corrupt Joe Biden in the general election.”
The report further claimed that former Trump administration officials Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, John McEntee, Jeffrey Clark (one of Trump’s co-defendants in the 2020 Georgia election interference case), Ric Grenell, John Ratcliffe and Jared Kushner are also in the mix to fill key White House and Cabinet positions.

“That list may never become a reality, but he is a type of person who fully understands President Trump’s policies … who understands President Trump’s determination and direction,” said Bannon, who briefly served as Trump’s chief strategist. Trump in the White House, on the Axios report.
