Among these countries was India’s neighboring country, Pakistan. While most Pakistanis denied this and refused to commemorate India, there were those who applauded their Desi counterparts.
A video from a recent news broadcast for Geo News has gone viral on Twitter, officially X, showing two presenters discussing the Indian landmark.
The two reporters not only recognized India’s achievement but also applauded the nation for sending the South Asian region to the moon.
In their praise for India, the presenters said they felt somewhat proud to see people who look like them and even dress like them reach such remarkable heights. They congratulated India not only for the way the operation was carried out but also for the applause the nation’s citizens demonstrated after the landing.
The presenters went into an unexpected self-reflective mode
However, it was not just the initial surprise that the Pakistani media recognized India’s success, but also the fact that this feat had led many Pakistanis to become self-reflective and concerned about their own country.
It was not the usual self-reflection that any other media presenter would normally engage in with facts and a voluminous speech to move the people of a nation. But rather a more deified version of criticizing and complaining about the state of the country. Any desi citizen would be familiar with the petty comparisons they end up making when something bothers them. Well, from the sounds of it, space and cricket seem to be the two places Pakistan and India can find common ground.
