President Biden celebrated Hunter Biden’s birthday at a swanky Los Angeles venue on Sunday as the scandal-plagued first son faces a slew of tax and gun fraud charges.
The Biden men were photographed hugging outside The Ivy, an exclusive Beverly Hills restaurant popular with Hollywood stars, where they dined for Hunter’s 54th birthday.
They were joined by Beau Biden, Hunter’s 3-year-old son, who held his father’s hand as his grandfather leaned in to kiss the younger man.
President Biden was visiting California with first lady Jill Biden as he campaigned for re-election.
The president has supported his son even as federal charges taint his campaign.
Hunter Biden is awaiting trial on a felony firearms charge in Delaware and also faces nine charges related to tax fraud in Southern California.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Hunter’s attorneys tried to get the federal judge in the firearms case to drop the charges against him in a series of motions filed Tuesday. They argued for the dismissal on four grounds, including that the charges were politically motivated, according to the documents.
The motions were filed after Special Counsel David Weiss’ Jan. 16 rebuttal of Hunter’s first attempt to convince District Judge Maryellen Noreika to drop the case, which arose when he purchased a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver while addicted to crack and lied about his drugs. wear.
The first child was initially expected to receive broad immunity protection under a plea deal he reached with federal prosecutors, but the deal collapsed in a Delaware court last July.
