Who is Preston Duffee?
Preston Duffee began singing in church at a very early age. He got his first guitar when he was 8 years old and taught himself to play with the help of YouTube videos. In 2019, he graduated from Hartsville High School and went on to study mechanical engineering at Florence-Darlington Technical College.
For the past five years, he has been sharing his music online and performing at various venues along the South Carolina coast, including Myrtle Beach and Murrell’s Inlet.
In 2022, Preston released his debut single titled “Something to Write About”. She has had the opportunity to collaborate with The Voice contestant Ashland Craft. She also performed alongside former American Idol Danny Gokey in a show at a Civic Center.

Duffee, 21, auditioned for American Idol and was able to win the hearts of the judges with her original song ‘Something to write about’, which she wrote in memory of her late mother.
Unfortunately, Preston’s mother had been struggling with bipolar disorder and depression, and these became more and more intense as time went on. Her life changed dramatically when her mother took her own life in the presence of her loved ones, who were gathered for a cookout. Afterwards, Preston and her sister were left sad and without the means to support themselves or their home. Without his mother’s unwavering support, the past few months have been incredibly difficult for them.
Music proved to be a lifeline for Preston during the difficult times he faced. “Music has truly been a salvation, helping me cope and even putting food on the table,” she recalled.
His sister Shannon also encouraged him by saying that she (mom) had complete faith in him. “Believe [mom] “I knew you could do great things,” he added.
