Rajan Shahi is a popular Indian television director and producer. He is known for producing several popular shows such as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Anupamaa and Amrit Manthan.
Biography
Rajan Shahi was born in Delhi, India in a Kayasth family. He completed his schooling from St. Columbus High School, Delhi and graduated from Hindu College, University of Delhi.
In 1990, Shahi moved to Mumbai in search of work in the entertainment industry. He began his career as an assistant director in 1993. After working as an associate director for several years, he debuted as a director in 1999, with Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi presented with Chand Dhar, Rupa Ganguli and Sruti Ulfat and more.
In 2003, his show Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin It got him fame and stardom overnight. The show featured Mona Singh as Jassi and Apurva Agnihotri as the male lead Armaan Suri. After this he directed many television shows such as Hamare Tumhare Rishtey, Millee, Viraasat, Sathi Re and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan etc
Shahi created his own production company called Director’s Kut Productions in 2007. His first series as a producer was Star Plus. Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai. As a producer, his most successful and popular program is Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus in 2009 followed by Tere Sheher Mein and Chand Chupa Baadal Mein. After a successful career in Hindi television, his production house entered the Marathi television industry. Aai Kuthe Kay Karte on Star Pravah in 2019.
Recently, he produced another show for Star Plus. Anupamaa. It is the Hindi version of the Marathi series. Aai Kuthe Kay Karte.
