Randi Weingarten criticized online for question about Jewish prayer: ‘Asshole’

American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten received an X community grade after asking where the “women” were during an all-male Jewish prayer service.

Weingarten, who said in 2010 that she considers herself a “deeply religious” Jew, cited conservative Jewish commentator Mark Levin’s video of the minyan (a quorum of Jewish adults, traditionally male, required for certain religious practices) outside the White House.

“Where are the women?” Weingarten asked in the post, which has its comments section limited to Weingarten’s followers.

The post garnered a response from Levin, as well as a note from the X community.

“Orthodox Jews have practiced gender-separated prayers for thousands of years,” the note reads, citing the Jewish advocacy group Chabad.

“The women were on the other side praying and would not be visible to someone filming in the ‘men’s section,'” he adds.

“You are such a despicable idiot,” Levin replied.

“Get off my timeline, idiot.”

Weingarten’s Tuesday post was illuminated by other social media users.

“Is this a satirical account controlled by [School Choice Now senior fellow Corey DeAngelis]?” quipped Manhattan Institute director of constitutional studies Ilya Shapiro.

“His wife is a progressive, LGBT-focused rabbi,” wrote political commentator Chad Felix Greene.

“This was her trying to embarrass the pro-Israel event.”

“She knows that her ideological peers will despise them and dismiss them as conservatives,” Greene continued.

Randi Weingarten is Jewish and president of the American Federation of Teachers, which has 1.7 million members; She was completely unaware that Orthodox Jewish men and women pray separately.

Daily Wire video journalist Kassy Dillon wrote that Weingarten “turned off the comments because he knows it was a stupid thing to tweet.”

“Randi Weingarten is Jewish [and] president of the American Federation of Teachers, which has 1.7 million members, was completely unaware that Orthodox Jewish men [and] women pray separately,” Parents Defending Education president Nikki Neily tweeted.

“If you’re wondering why the public education system in the United States has been in decline for decades…” he added.

This is the second time this week that Weingarten has blown up online for his posts.

Weingarten got more than he asked for after posting an article about the rise of homeschooling in the United States on social media on Sunday.

Some X users, however, blamed Weingarten and the agenda the AFT has pushed in education.

Colin Wright, an evolutionary biologist, shared an image of gender ideology teaching used in public schools across the country.

He said: “I have identified the suspect. Although according to them the suspects should be able to identify themselves.”

The AFT previously promoted the use of a pronoun card that included a question about whether the student wanted their parents to know their pronouns.
