On Thursday, Rohit Sharma scored his 11th century in Test cricket on the first day of the third Test match between India and England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored an impressive hundred in the third session of the opening day in Rajkot, strengthening the Indian batting alongside Ravindra Jadeja.
The home team had a fruitful session, accumulating 93 runs without conceding any wickets. Jadeja’s half-century at his own ground is noteworthy, while Rohit came close to his first century in 11 innings.
Their combined effort of 152 runs marked India’s opening 100-run partnership in the series.
His century against England makes him the seventh Indian captain to achieve such a feat, the first since 2018.
During his innings, Rohit surpassed MS Dhoni’s record of 78 Test sixes, now ranking second in Indian Test cricket history, behind only Virender Sehwag.

Great performance, #RohitSharma! 👏🏻 Scoring 131 runs off 196 balls was outstanding 🔥, although not reaching the double century was a missed opportunity. 🙂 #INDvENG pic.twitter.com/GD2JByO2hr

A hundred of skill and maturity from the captain. Best Test innings to get a very inexperienced batting team out of a lot of trouble. #RohitSharma #INDvsENGTest pic.twitter.com/U1N3FTTdlY
