Saurabh Dixit is an award-winning Indian filmmaker from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). He has produced and directed more than seven short films throughout his career. Saurabh made his first short film at the age of 15 on Tiger Conservation, which won the ‘Best Short Film’ award with Conservation Message (student category) at the Central Indian Highlands Wildlife Film Festival.
Biography
Saurabh Dixit was born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He studied at The Sanskaar Valley School and then pursued experience design at Symbiosis Institute of Design, India. His work ranges from film shooting to virtual reality.
Saurabh started his journey through a short film Preserve or Perish in the year 2010. The film helped him win the award for Best Short Film with a Conservation Message 2013 at the Central Indian Highlands Wildlife Film Festival. Later he directed several short films such as Nidamat (2016), Rihayi (2016), Presente (2019) and Killat (2021).
In 2017, Saurabh was nominated for the IFTDA Shorties Official Selection for the film Faraar. This film was officially screened in the presence of a jury comprising industry veterans like Anupam Kher, David Dhawan, Mukesh Chhabra and Shoojit Sircar among others. The same year, his other short film, Rihayi, was selected at the 3rd Film Festival held in Delhi. Shobhit Khare received the best actor award for his performance in the film.
In 2021, he directed and produced the short film Killat, based on a middle-aged woman struggling to get a bucket of water for her son-in-law who is trapped in a bathroom without water. This film received the Best Film award at several film festivals including Marudham Indie Film Festival, Lake View International Film Festival and Bettiah International Film Festival.
