Sona Mohapatra was born on June 17, 1976 in Cuttack, Odisha to father Dilip and mother Nayantara Mohapatra. She belongs to a high-class and well-educated family. At a very young age, she traveled all over India, from the village to the big city, due to her father’s itinerant work.

Sona Mahapatra, the most famous and popular Indian singer, starts her career not as a singer but as a brand manager at Marico (an Indian consumer goods company offering consumer products) in late 2002. During this time, she managed Indian brands popular ones like Mediker and Parachute.

Sona begins her musical journey with a Tata salt tinkle. She later got a chance to sing a song in the Bollywood movie “Family” in 2006. After that, Sona formed her first band in this city and also teamed up with Ram Sampath (her future husband), to release her debut album solo on SONY Music. .
