‘Squad’ member Cori Bush loses by 22 points in new Democratic primary poll

“Squad” member and U.S. Rep. Cori Bush could lose big in this summer’s Democratic primary, according to a new poll.

A new poll by Republican firm Remington Research finds that Bush (D-Mo.) lost by 22 points to rival Wesley Bell in the Aug. 6 race.

“It’s a big red flag for lawmakers in the far-left squad,” said Josh Kraushar, editor-in-chief of Jewish Insider. published in X. “This data is yet another example of why pandering to left-wing radicalism about Israel in the Democratic Party is a counterproductive strategy for Biden.”

While the survey was a small sample of only 401 voters, the results are clear.

In last week’s poll, 50 percent of respondents said they favored Bell, a former prosecutor, and only 28 percent said yes to Bush. The margin of error was 4.9%.

Bush has been one of the Israeli government’s staunchest critics in Congress and a strong supporter of a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.

Her criticism of Israel following the Hamas attack on October 7, which killed at least 1,200 people, has made her a lightning rod and shows the chasm that separates Democrats on how to respond to the war between Israel and Hamas.

Some of what Bush has said has caused her some backlash within her Missouri congressional district, which includes all of St. Louis and some of its suburbs, but she hasn’t backed down.

The winner of the Democratic primary will be a heavy favorite to win the November general election because the district is solidly Democratic and about 50% African American.

It includes all of St. Louis, much of northern St. Louis County, and a portion of western St. Louis County.
