Efruz, the Jack Russell terrier, is a salty dog.
The 4-year-old pup has become a local celebrity in a coastal town in Peru, where he spends his days surfing.
Wearing a bright yellow vest, the four-legged water enthusiast is often seen balancing deftly on the front of a board, having fun wagging his tail as the waves foam around him and his human surfing buddy.
Efruz, a 4-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, loves surfing with his owner in Peru. AP Mauro Canella, a surf instructor at San Bartolo beach, introduced Efruz to surfing a year ago. AP
“He loves the sea,” said its owner, Mauro Canella, a surf instructor on San Bartolo beach, about 50 kilometers from the capital of Lima.
Canella said he and Efruz became surf friends about a year ago.
And they’re not the only dog-human duo riding the waves there: a dozen or more can be seen over the course of a weekend.

Although Efruz feels cold as the hours pass, he seems to enjoy his new sport, positioning himself firmly at the front of the board while Canella glides through the ocean standing, kneeling or lying down.
As with all surfers, both human and canine, Efruz sometimes cannot hold back the waves and falls into the water.
But Efruz, dressed in his trademark yellow vest, just shakes it off, his owner said.
