Career
Qureshi began his career with the formation of his world music group Surya in 1986-87. He has appeared as an artist on the album Global Drum Project, Remember Shakti, Masters of Percussion and Summit. Qureshi plays a variety of percussion instruments such as djembe, duff, bongos and batajon. He is the first artist to have created a unique rhythmic terminology to adapt the syllables of the tabla to the African drum called the djembe.
