Tesla delivers a record number of cars

Tesla claims to have delivered a record number of cars in the first quarter, despite supply chain woes.

In the first three months of this year, the electric car maker claims to have delivered more than 310,000 cars.

That was about 70% higher than the same period a year earlier.

Despite a “very challenging quarter,” including tough coronavirus laws in China, where Tesla operates a so-called “Giga factory,” CEO Elon Musk says the company has improved.

According to figures released over the weekend, Tesla delivered 310,048 cars from the beginning of this year to the end of March, up from 184,800 a year ago.

Musk tweeted: “This was an extraordinarily difficult quarter due to supply chain issues and China’s zero covid policy.”

This was an *exceptionally* difficult quarter due to supply chain disruptions and China’s zero Covid policy.

“The Tesla team and key suppliers saved the day with their extraordinary efforts.”

Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y sedans accounted for the majority of deliveries.

Mr. Musk previously stated that the Model Y, which launched in 2019, was part of Tesla’s strategy to expand its market.

It offers a longer range per charge than the Model 3, which launched two years ago.

On April 20, the world’s most valuable automaker will announce all of its financial results to date.

In Shanghai, Tesla has a ‘Giga factory’, which is a high-volume car manufacturing facility that also produces lithium-ion batteries that power the vehicles.

It was apparently closed due to a spike in coronavirus infections in the city.

According to rumors citing an internal document, Tesla did not resume production at the plant on Monday as planned.
