Texas murderer Kaitlin Armstrong was pregnant while on the run in Costa Rica for killing professional cyclist, lawyers claim

Convicted murderer Kaitlin Armstrong was reportedly pregnant when she was arrested in Costa Rica and dragged back to Texas for gunning down her love rival, according to an explosive new court filing.

The killer’s lawyers made the shocking claim in papers filed earlier this month requesting a new trial, arguing that Armstrong could have received a lighter punishment if a jury had known she was pregnant.

Armstrong, 35, was sentenced to 90 years in prison last month for the May 2022 shooting death of rising professional cyclist Anna “Mo” Wilson in a case that sent investigators on an international search for 43 days to find the murderer.

“Kaitlin has also been pregnant twice, one of which was during or around the time of her arrest,” the document, obtained by the DailyMail, states.

“Considering that the sentence here was 90 years and a maximum fine, there should be no doubt that this mitigating evidence would have resulted in a more lenient punishment.”

The surprising plot does not suggest how far along Armstrong may have been or whether the father could have been cyclist Colin Strickland, who went on a date with Wilson several months earlier when he and Armstrong briefly broke up.

The former yoga teacher shot and killed Wilson, 25, in a fit of jealousy and rage after learning that Wilson went swimming and eating with Strickland on the same day.

Wilson was visiting Austin for a race, where she was among the favorites to win, when Armstrong tracked her down and shot her three times, twice in the head and once in the heart.

The documents also introduce new arguments that paint the convicted killer in a more compassionate light, but they were not presented during Armstrong’s two-week trial in Austin.

His attorney did not immediately respond to the Post’s request for comment.

The presentation presents her as the daughter of an alcoholic mother, whose father abandoned her and who was a victim of sexual abuse.

“While her family struggled throughout her childhood, her childhood friend also recalled that Kaitlin was the victim of multiple instances of sexual violence (actual or attempted),” her attorney wrote.

However, the pregnancy claim raises some suspicions, considering that Armstrong underwent plastic surgery during her stay in Costa Rica.

Armstrong initially tried to dodge the lab test required to detect a pregnant woman, but relented after her cosmetic surgeon told her it was necessary, the DailyMail reported.

The pregnancy issue could be another desperate attempt at freedom by Armstrong, who has repeatedly tried to avoid the repercussions of the horrific murder.

The convicted murderer made a daring escape from prison in October after convincing guards to accompany her to a private doctor’s appointment for a made-up illness.
