This is how the eclipse will affect your pet’s behavior.

On October 14, one of the most anticipated events of the year will occur: the annular solar eclipse. This phenomenon can be seen in various parts of the world including Honduras.

Many people are eagerly waiting to see this phenomenon that will not be repeated until 2131, that is, 108 years later. However, many people do not know that this eclipse will have an effect on pets.

Fausto Reyes Delgado, medical director of the veterinary hospital of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) commented in an interview for the agency EFE that the eye structure of dogs and cats is similar to that of humans.

That is why, like people who see it directly, it could cause eye injuries.

He also agreed with other specialists that the change in light that occurs during the solar eclipse affects the behavior of some animals.

In that sense, there is a high probability that animals that govern their activities by sunlight, such as dogs, cats, birds and others, go to rest during the day.

Likewise, nocturnal animals such as owls and bats may roam the streets during the day.

One of the recommendations to protect kittens and dogs from the eclipse is to keep them indoors. Likewise, it is important not to take them for a walk during the event or force them to see the sun.

Some people even recommend that if you notice strange attitudes, you can pet the animals to make them feel safe.
