KCAL-TV is an American independent television station located in Los Angeles, California, and owned by CBS News. The station broadcasts many news programs reported by its talented staff of male journalists. Juan Fernandez
Juan Fernández is an award-winning anchor for news station KCAL in Los Angeles. He has served as a meteorologist and anchor at CBS2 and KCAL News stations. Before moving to Los Angeles from Miami, he served as a general assignment reporter for WSVN-7, WLTV-23/Univision and Telemundo Network. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Broadcast Journalism from Florida International University.
Chris Holmstrom
Chris Holmstrom is an Emmy Award-winning journalist. He can be seen anchoring and reporting on KCAL News. He loves to write and tell stories that matter to the viewer. Holmstrom previously worked for KNDU-TV and KOIN-TV. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northern Arizona University.
Jeff Vaughn
Jeff Vaughn is an award-winning anchor and reporter who has been part of the KCAL News team since November 2015. A four-time Emmy Award winner, he lived in Kansas, Colorado and graduated from Kansas State University. He began his broadcasting career at KNSS Radio in Wichita, Kansas. Jeff now hosts KCAL News at 8 and 10 pm and is a beloved figure in the industry.
Tom waits
Tom Wait is a highly skilled news journalist and reporter who has covered some of the biggest news events in recent years. He began his career at News 12 The Bronx and News 12 Brooklyn in 2003. He joined KCAL News in March 2013 as a general assignment reporter. Wait has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in journalism from New York University.
David Goldstein
David Goldstein is an investigative reporter and respected industry veteran who has been honored with the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southern California Radio and Television News Association and the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Press Club of The Angels. During his more than three decades in Los Angeles, Goldstein has won 10 Emmy Awards and 20 Golden Mike Awards. He grew up in the suburbs of New York City and graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Journalism and Broadcasting. David is widely celebrated as one of Los Angeles’ best investigative reporters.
Jim Hill
Jim Hill is one of the most respected sports anchors in the country and is recognizable for his appearances on KCAL’s weekday newscasts at 6 and 11 pm and for hosting the weekend editions of “Sports Central.” He began his career as a sportscaster on CBS2 in 1976 and previously played defensive back in the National Football League. Hill has earned many accolades throughout his career and was even recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
Jeff Nguyen
Jeff Nguyen is a journalist for KCAL News and graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with an emphasis in American Government. He began his journalism career as a news editor for KCAL News during his senior year and achieved many accolades while working for Access Hollywood and KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. His impressive resume includes the Golden Mike Award and the Associated Press/Mark Twain Award for investigative reporting.
Ross Palombo
Ross Palombo is an award-winning journalist and anchor currently covering top stories for KCAL News. Before joining KCAL, he anchored the evening news, Up to the Minute and The CBS Morning News, making history by being the first person to cover LGBTQ+ issues on a national newscast. His impressive career has seen him work at several stations, including KRON in San Francisco, KNXV in Phoenix, and WHBQ in Memphis.
