Where is this restaurant located?
If you want to feel the tingle of being slapped by a waiter in this strange restaurant, look for Shachihoko-ya in Nagoya, Japan.
What happens in this restaurant?
You may be wondering how everything works at this intriguing establishment. Well, for starters, customers can pay waitresses to slap them. All these enthusiastic restaurant-goers need for a thrilling slap is 300 Japanese yen (Rs 170).
For this price, stoic kimono-wearing women would step forward to deliver strong slaps one after another and some would even slap with their backhands. In some cases, waitresses slapped customers so hard that they fell out of their seats.
Once, they pulled a customer out while the servers were lining up to hit the customer. The waiters bowed ironically before placing a hard hand on the customer’s cheek, one by one.
How do customers react to the restaurant’s service?
Both men and women, tourists and locals, thank the violent servers for their service. The restaurant first opened its doors in 2012, but soon closed and was in danger of closing. To save the establishment, the restaurant began the extravagant custom of attracting customers.
The stunt revived the restaurant’s dwindling treasures and even became so popular that more employees had to be hired to meet the establishment’s demands.
