Two foreign aid workers in Ukraine killed by Russian bombings after nighttime drone strike

Two foreign aid workers were killed in Ukraine on Sunday when a Russian strike hit a van carrying staff from a Ukrainian NGO, while nearly three dozen drones were launched into Kiev, scattering debris in several districts of the city.

A van carrying four volunteers from the NGO Road to Relief, which helps evacuate the wounded from the front, overturned and caught fire after being hit by projectiles near the town of Chasiv Yar.

The organization’s director, Emma Igual, 31, died in the attack, Spain’s Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares told The Telegraph.

“A projectile fell on a vehicle in which this Spanish citizen was traveling,” Albares said.

“She was working there in an NGO that helps with the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and we have verbal confirmation of her death.”
