Where did the incident occur?
The incident occurred on an IndiGo flight (6E-2175) from Delhi to Goa, which was delayed by several hours due to fog.
Who was the passenger who attacked the pilot?
The passenger was identified as Sahil Kataria. Indigo has filed a complaint against the passenger and is in the process of opening a formal case.
What happens in the viral video?
In the viral video, a man wearing a yellow hoodie suddenly ran from the back row and hit the new pilot, who had replaced the previous crew due to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations after several hours late.
FDT laws are designed to protect the well-being of pilots and flight attendants by requiring adequate rest periods and addressing safety concerns related to fatigue.
How did the authorities handle it?
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is responsible for establishing the FDTL. Shortly after the incident, the passenger was removed from the plane and handed over to authorities.
“What do the pilot and cabin crew have to do with the delay? They were just doing their job. Arrest this man and add him to the banned list. Post his photo so that people are aware of his bad character in public”. commented one user on X in response to the video.
“This person should be charged with assault and put on a no-fly list. While @IndiGo6E is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons and should be held accountable for his failings, this is completely unacceptable passenger behavior.” commented another.
