Previously, the popular Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp was said to be down in many places around the world, including India. Several WhatsApp users have said that they were unable to send, receive, or even log into their accounts.
Downdetector, a website that tracks problems and outages in real time, says that users reported problems with WhatsApp as early as 3:17 a.m. EDT (12:47 p.m.). It also says that around 12:30 pm, 28,413 people in India reported the issue on its website. 69% of people who reported the problem said they couldn’t send messages, 7% said they had problems with the app, and 24% said they couldn’t connect to the server.

Reuters says WhatsApp users in Asia, the UK, South Africa and Europe have been having problems sending and receiving text and video messages.
At around 7:50 GMT, a site called Downdetector showed that more than 68,000 users in the UK reported problems with the app. 19,000 people in Singapore and 15,000 people in South Africa said they had problems.
People in France who used WhatsApp had the same problem. “WhatsApp stopped working for many people in France on Tuesday,” Reuters said. “In the last 24 hours there have been reported around 9,540 issues with the service owned by Meta Platforms on the Downdetector.”
