WhatsApp has always been at the forefront of improving user privacy within the messaging app landscape. Recently, they introduced the ‘Chat Lock’ feature, which allows users to lock specific conversations with a passcode, preventing unauthorized access.

With the Secret Code setting enabled, users can completely hide the entry point to access blocked chats in their chat list. Instead of tapping to open locked chats, users can set a secret code. By entering this code directly into the search bar of the Chats tab, users can discreetly open their locked conversations.
This adds a new dimension of privacy by hiding access to private chats from unwanted eyes. Even if someone gains access to the user’s phone, the entry point remains hidden unless they know the secret code. This provides peace of mind by safeguarding sensitive conversations. For users worried about forgetting their secret code, WhatsApp has implemented a security mechanism. In the privacy settings, users now have the option to quickly clear the list of blocked chats. This innovative secret code feature is currently limited to select beta testers in the latest WhatsApp for Android 2.23.24.20 update.
