Who was the doctor who came to the woman’s aid on the flight?
Sundar Sankaran, the doctor, recounted the incident on microblogging site ‘X’, detailing how he and another doctor came to the rescue of the distressed passenger on board an Air India flight.
What happened on the flight?
“On my way to Toronto via @airindia from Delhi… I was called, along with a Toronto radiologist named Satheesh @SatheeshToronto, to attend to a middle-aged woman who was suffering from seizures and confusion. “Flight not yet had arrived. “They took her out, but fortunately her vital signs were stable and we were able to discharge her with the help of local doctors at Medanta,” Sundar Sankaran wrote.
He praised the Air India crew for their cooperation and added, “Due to safety concerns, the entire aircraft underwent security and clearance checks, resulting in a one-hour delay.”
When did you go to the doctor before?
Dr Sankaran said this was his third emergency call on board a flight in his 45-year career. He recounted the first incident, which occurred on a trip from Delhi to Bengaluru when an IAF officer reported chest problems.
“I was able to provide emergency care and the officer was immediately taken to the hospital’s Air Force Command and treated for an acute myocardial infarction. The Air Force chief sent me a thank you letter, but what was touching was the thank you letter from the wife and daughter of the patient IAF officer. “For a young doctor just starting his career, the letters meant a lot.”
