In a bizarre incident, a woman recently made headlines by admitting that she went to extreme measures to protect her food from her thieving roommates.

In a viral TikTok video, a UK-based woman, Sarah (@saatje32) on TikTok, shared her clever strategy to discourage her roommates from stealing food.

Two years ago, he resorted to a unique method that he jokingly referred to as “poisoning” his food by adding salt to everything.

The video begins with a nostalgic flashback, reminiscing about the time she took this unconventional approach to protecting her food.

Sarah then proceeded to demonstrate the process she used.

It shows a carton of organic British skimmed milk, followed by a container of Saxa table salt. With a mischievous smile, she pours the salt into the milk, adding more, and shakes the container vigorously for maximum effect.

From supportive comments to funny anecdotes and even some that questioned the effectiveness of their strategy, the wide range of responses showcases the diverse perspectives and sense of humor within the TikTok community.

The viral TikTok video showing Sarah’s unique approach to deterring food thieves by adding salt to her meals sparked a flurry of responses from viewers.

Among the comments, some users suggested alternative substances that could have been used, such as odorless washing powder, beach and powder soap, laxatives, rat glue, or isopropyl alcohol.

These suggestions revealed the creative and humorous nature of the TikTok community.

Interestingly, viewers also shared their own or known people’s experiences of taking unconventional measures to protect their belongings.

Examples included someone adding bleach to their shampoo to discourage a housemate from using it and another mixing mayonnaise into a tub of vanilla buttercream to prevent unwanted fingers from dipping into it.

Amid the banter, however, a crucial question arose about the legality of using laxatives to sweeten a drink.

A TikToker known as the “Labor Lawyer” weighed in, stressing that intentionally adding laxatives to a drink is unethical and illegal. Such actions can be seen as a trap to cause harm, making them violate the law.

As the discussion of Sarah’s TikTok video unfolded, it became apparent that while clever solutions were proposed, there are legal and ethical limits to consider when it comes to stealing food or tampering with someone’s belongings.
