Joseph Lee is a multi-talented Korean-American actor and visual artist based in Los Angeles. He has made an impressive name for himself, especially with his lead role as George Nakai in the Netflix series Beef (2022).
Additionally, he made his debut at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018 with the feature film Searching (film), originally titled Search, which won the Audience Award in the NEXT Category. Furthermore, in the same year, Lee also appeared as a series regular in the KBS episode The Miracle We Met, one of the highest-rated television shows in South Korea during spring 2018.

Lee’s parents immigrated from South Korea to Phoenix, Arizona, where Joe Yun Lee was born on December 29, 1987. Growing up in Indiana, Lee developed a passion for both acting and painting, appearing on stage while studying political science and history at Purdue University. .
His talents as an artist have earned him commissions to paint murals around the world, including the Mirus Gallery in Denver and San Francisco, as well as SCOPE Basel, Switzerland. Lee’s work has been exhibited in some of the most prominent galleries, further demonstrating his skill as a painter.
TV shows and movies
Lee moved to Los Angeles in 2011 and wasted no time getting into acting. He made his film debut in 2011 in Nerve, written and directed by JR Sawyers, playing the role of Eric – Line Cutter. He later appeared in a number of television roles, including roles on TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles and NCIS: Los Angeles.
On stage, he received even more recognition, winning the Hollywood Fringe Festival’s Golden Male Performer Award in 2014 for his performance in the play VENGEANCE CAN WAIT.
In 2018, he appeared in five episodes of Miracle That We Met as Geum Sung-moo. Fast forward to 2023, and Lee was cast as Lieutenant Mura in Amazon Prime’s Star Trek: Picard, starring Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Harry Treadaway, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera and Evan Evagora.
His latest work is in Netflix’s Beef alongside Young Mazino, where Lee once again excels in the role of George Nakai.
