She further claimed that Das took considerable measures to prevent her from reporting the crime, constantly pleading with her and even using official channels to intimidate her. The officer told the FIR that the special director general apologized when he learned that she was going to lodge a complaint with the “police chief in Chennai” the next day. She said Das allegedly called her mother-in-law to try to negotiate a “compromise and settlement” and that he promised to “fall at her feet and apologize for her actions.” The IPS officer was immediately placed on mandatory hold after the complaint was filed and eventually suspended by the state government.
