As far as we know, the serious fatal accident took place in Gomoa Okyereko at around 4:30 am on Tuesday, when a Yutong commercial bus skidded out of its lane and crashed into a gasoline tanker truck. Reports state that the Yutong commercial bus came from the Ivory Coast and was heading towards Accra, while the fuel tanker truck was coming in the opposite direction. The bus driver is believed to have strayed frequently from his lane throughout the journey. The fuel tanker truck involved in this accident was reportedly full of gasoline and was on its way to Takoradi as it came from Accra. Commander DO II of the Winneba Fire Service, named Kwesi Hughes, said after hearing an eyewitness: “So [the tanker driver] rather he entered the lane of the Yutong because at that time the driver of the Yutong had also entered his lane,” an investigation is still ongoing and officers are looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
