Woman shown bound and gagged in sickening BTK serial killer drawings may have been identified

The newly released sick drawings of BTK serial killer Dennis Rader show a series of terrified, bound and gagged women, and cops think they may have identified at least one of them as a missing woman.

The disturbing images were released as part of a major new campaign to examine possible unsolved cases involving the sick 78-year-old who called himself BTK for “bind, torture, kill.”

Two of the sketches show women, including one in a short red dress or blouse, tied with ribbons hanging around their necks.

The third shows a blonde woman looking with clear fear in her eyes, her arms and legs tied with rope and a red gag in her mouth.

That woman, who was wearing a green top, is believed to have been identified as a southeastern Kansas woman who disappeared in 1991, Osage County Sheriff Eddie Virden told CNN.

While Virden did not reveal additional details about his identity, he told the outlet that his team had “very, very good advice” about the drawing and potential victims.

“It’s going to be a very busy week,” Virden said of the influx of tips that have “provided more information.”

Rader was sentenced to life in prison in 2005 for a series of 10 gruesome murders that terrorized Wichita, Kansas, for more than two decades.

The newly released drawings were among hundreds hidden in the suburban father’s possessions at the time of his arrest, CNN explained.

The three images were posted in the hope that someone would recognize the scenes, which are believed to take place in barns or silos, Verdin said.

“Hopefully by releasing them, someone might recognize one of these barns or the unique features on them, or the closeness of the silo to the barn or possibly even found items they didn’t know why were there that could be very important in this case.” Virden told CNN.

“Even if the barn isn’t there anymore. We would still like that information.”

In the image of the woman in the green shirt, officials believe the black trim behind her may be an important clue.

“The reason you would have that is if you were moving cattle around there, those bars would keep the cattle from probably hitting the tin or the wood on the outside of the barn, so if an animal hit it, you know, you don’t dent it. the can or hit the wood on the outside,” Virden told CNN.

“We know from what Dennis said on this exact photograph that it was a drawing he created from an actual barn,” he added.

The woman in the red shirt, Verdin continued, seems to be in a wooden space like a tool or food room.

“That would be a barn that had wooden slats. You know, possibly a rounded post, but in that area of the barn you would possibly have a wood floor, you know, and a lot of times in the tack rooms inside the barns or in the feeding or storage rooms. They didn’t leave a dirt floor because they didn’t have livestock in that area,” Virden explained.

The third drawing, he noted, features a peculiar angle on the staircase that could help identify the actual location.

“The support pole appears to have a bracket and then a bolt running through it to hold everything together,” he told CNN.

Authorities also recently intercepted some of Rader’s jail communications that indicate there may be evidence hidden in old barns, the sheriff added.

Rader was always fascinated by barns and their surroundings, his daughter, Kerri Rawson, explained to the outlet.

“My father drew in our house, he made plans for the gardens,” recalls the author of “The Daughter of a Serial Killer.”

“And my dad needed to always be outside and in the air and the winter was hard for him. And so we had to find things that he could do because when he would come in and be too cooped up, he would get very upset,” he continued.

“My father loves barns and silos. Every time we’d drive to go camping, or fishing, or to college, he’d absolutely say, “This,” as if to say, “I want to retire here.” And he made fun of my mom for it.

“And after he was arrested, we found out later that he had massive fantasies about those specific places. So now we are driving around trying to find them in my memory and writing them down because we have to go see if there is anyone missing or buried there.”

Earlier this summer, authorities named Rader a person of interest in the 1976 disappearance of Oklahoma teenager Cynthia Dawn Kinney.

Officials believe Rader may have covertly referenced Kinney’s alleged kidnapping in his journals, and are also investigating the pantyhose ligature and other troubling items discovered in a “stash” at Rader’s former Park City, Kansas property.

Osage investigators hope state and federal agencies will help process any remaining DNA on the ligature and other “trophies” beyond those recovered in 2005, CNN said.

“We’re dealing with a man who is playing a lot of games,” Rawson told NewsNation of his devious father’s reaction to the renewed investigation.

However, as of Monday, the FBI’s Kansas City field office said it was not aware of the office assisting in any efforts related to BTK, CNN reported.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation also met with Osage’s team, but did not assist with property searches, the outlet added.
