Yamini made her screen debut in 1990 with a DD serial National Bandhan. She gained recognition and became a popular name for Tarpan: The Absolution (1994), starring alongside Revathi, Mita Vashisht, Om Puri and Manohar Singh. She played the role of Sabitri, Om Puri’s daughter in the thriller film. The film was screened at many international film festivals. She later played mainly supporting roles.
Yamini appeared in several films: Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain (1999), Kitne Door Kitne Paas (2002), Badhaai Ho Badhaai (2002), Jai Santoshi Maa (2006), Evening Shadows (2018) and Pagglait (2021). After Badhai Ho Badhai in 2002, the actor returned to the big screen after 16 years in 2018 with Evening Shadows.

Yamini has acted regularly in television series since the early 2000s and has appeared in over 20 shows. The veteran actor has acted in shows including Bandhan (1990), Daaman (2001), Ghar Ek Mandir (2000-2002), Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai (2007-2008), Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai (2007-2010), Krishna.
