Who was the lucky woman?
Danielle Alexandrov, a Massachusetts native, was the lucky one who received the loaded package.
What happened?
Alexandrov told the local station WCVB How was everything. She said: “I start going through the boxes, everything is normal until I find a box that is very heavy.” And she added: “I open it and it’s a box of scratch-off tickets. And I was like, ‘Is this a joke?’ until I look at the receipt and its value is $20,000 in scratch-off tickets.”
Why isn’t it the jackpot we all think it is?
Although it may seem like a stroke of luck, the notes have no value until they are verified by an authorized seller.
A Massachusetts State Lottery worker told the outlet, “These tickets until they are activated by a retail agent, they really have no value to them.”
They added: “If someone tried to take one of these tickets, if it was a winning ticket, took it to a retail store, there would be a message flagging them and they wouldn’t be able to cash the ticket.”
How did the entries end up in the wrong direction?
Originally, the tickets were intended to be delivered to a store called Kenyon’s Market located in Falmouth, a town on Cape Cod.
The woman eventually sent the bills to the correct address without attempting to use them.
