Cricketer Mohammed Shami was honored with the Arjuna Award by President of India Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Tuesday. The bowler was honored at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
What did he say about the award?
Shami had declared, “This award is a dream,” in a speech the day before the event. People cannot obtain this award once they have passed through life. It makes me very happy and I’m proud of myself. Since the ODI World Cup, where the Indian cricket team advanced to the final against Australia, Shami has not played for the team.

The pacer did not play in Australia’s upcoming Twenty20 international series. He was later included in the South African team, but an ankle injury prevented him from playing.

Shami is now likely to miss the first two Test matches of the series, which begins on January 25 against England. “Taking the time to return to activity and dealing with injuries are both aspects of the game.
