More than 200 students at an Alabama university were baptized in one night this week following a campus worship program that was reportedly attended by hundreds.
The baptisms took place Tuesday night in a lake on Auburn’s Red Barn campus, which is located about a half-mile from Auburn University’s Neville Arena, the site of a “Unite Auburn” worship event that drew a massive crowd.
The “Unite Auburn” event featured performances by the Christian worship band Passion and featured speakers such as Jennie Allen, a Christian author, and the Rev. Jonathan Pokluda, senior pastor of Harris Creek Baptist Church in Waco, Texas.
After the event, a person allegedly wanted to be baptized, but there was no tub available to use. Looking for a solution, the students began to gather at the lake.
Auburn Tigers head football coach Hugh Freeze also attended the event and “jumped in to help,” according to Montgomery-based WSFA.
In a clip taken by Auburn senior Michael Floyd, Freeze is shown assisting in the baptism of one of the school’s football players.
“This was a great moment of Auburn being Auburn! “Thousands gathered to unapologetically seek Jesus, and hundreds took the next step,” Floyd told Fox News Digital about the event.

Other photographs and images from the event showed hundreds of college students lining the shores of the lake as the students dove into the water to be baptized one by one over a two-hour period.
“It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed, because there was genuine joy and a sense of peace in the air. I looked out across campus and constantly saw flashlight crowds of more students running to join the crowd,” Kenzie Gay, an Auburn University senior who witnessed the spiritual event firsthand, told Fox.
“Everyone was in awe of what God was doing that night,” added Gay, who previously represented the school as Miss Auburn University.

“The good thing about these baptisms is that it was not a planned religious event, but simply an entire group of college students moved by their desire to follow Jesus,” Auburn student Mateo Arenas told Fox.
“It took me about 45 minutes to get to where the baptisms were taking place due to the amount of traffic of people who wanted to go and witness the event themselves. Once there, it was a place worth seeing, people dedicating their lives to Jesus without fear, just a lot of love,” Arenas added.
The baptisms at the southern university campus came after a similar spiritual awakening occurred at Asbury University in February. The private school located in Wilmore, Kentucky, canceled some classes and allowed 24/7 prayer as people from all corners flocked to campus to worship for two weeks.
The event was attended by hundreds of people from the Auburn community.
The movement at the time began after students refused to leave after a chapel service, and the services grew to fill the school’s chapel with worshipers from across the country, according to Christianity Today.
