A newly released video disturbingly shows Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin boasting about having survived assassination attempts, further fueling conspiracies that the Russian warlord could still be alive.
The images were posted on a Telegram channel linked to Prigozhin’s mercenary group on Wednesday, a week after it emerged that he had been killed in a burning plane crash.
“For those who are discussing whether I am alive or not, how I am, now it is the weekend of the second half of August 2023, I am in Africa,” says Prigozhin, 62, in the clip published by the TV Channel. Telegram Gray Zone linked to Wagner.
“So for people who like to talk about my net worth or my private life or how much I earn or anything else, it’s all good,” he adds with a dismissive wave of his hand.

The footage was released without comment, including details about exactly when or where it was filmed.
However, Prigozhin’s camouflage clothing and matching hat, along with the watch on his right wrist, matched his appearance in a video posted on August 21, apparently from Africa.
That had been his first public speech since President Vladimir Putin branded him a “traitor” for his brief June riot, and his last before he was pronounced dead in the private jet crash two days later.

The reference to Prigozhin’s “weekend” in the last clip suggests that it must have been filmed between August 19 and 20, just days before he and other top Wagner commanders and bodyguards died in a plane crash in the Tver region on August 23. .
The Gray Zone channel previously published what it described as some of the “last” photos of Prigozhin in Africa, showing him posing with a large group of young black men.
The accompanying post claimed that the images were taken in the Central African Republic “shortly before his departure to Russia.”

While the Gray Zone made no suggestion that Prigozhin is still alive, the timing of the release and the strongman’s comments about the “liquidation” attempts he survived only added fuel to the already widespread conspiracies that he is still alive.
Among them is Dr. Valery Solovey, a former professor at the prestigious Moscow State Institute of International Relations, who repeats a widely shared conspiracy that the warlord was not on the crashed plane.
“His [body] Double flew in his place. “By the way, Vladimir Putin is perfectly aware of this,” the analyst said in a recent interview on YouTube, stating that Wagner’s real boss is “alive, well and free.”

The former academic said Prigozhin plans to take revenge “on the people who planned to destroy him.”
The Russian Investigative Committee investigating the aviation disaster confirmed, citing genetic testing, that Prigozhin was among the 10 people who died in the crash.
The rebel mercenary leader was buried Tuesday in a private ceremony at a St. Petersburg cemetery.
The Kremlin has rejected as an “outright lie” the suggestion that Putin had Prigozhin killed as revenge for his uprising, but has said the investigation into the crash is looking into the possibility that the plane crash was the result of “a bad mistake.” deliberate action.
