Arti Mala, a content developer, travelled from Washington, DC, to Glasgow, Scotland, for a friend’s wedding, only to discover that she didn’t identify anyone there. In the TikTok video, she expressed her confusion and walked around the venue, revealing decorations and a banner that read, “Caitlin and Stephen.” Thank you for being a part of our special day.”

In the video, she wrote, “POV: You travelled 3000 miles and accidentally showed up to the wrong wedding.” Since the entrepreneur shared the clip, it has gone viral, leaving social media users in splits.

In a later scene, the bride’s brother jokes to Arti, “You’ve come to Scotland from America and come to the wrong wedding.” Arti couldn’t help but giggle as she realised her mistake and exclaimed, “It’s true, oh my gosh, I’m at the wrong wedding.” Even the husband got in on the act, saying, “My wedding and her wedding,” gesturing to his bride.

The woman finally got to the right venue

Fortunately, Arti Mala was able to call an Uber and get to her friend’s wedding reception on time. Despite missing the speeches, Arti was able to experience a memorable moment at the wedding. At the end of the video, guests from India and Scotland can be seen dancing to a Punjabi song.

Arti Mala elaborates further on the mix-up in a subsequent video posted two days later. She added that she was intended to be the wedding’s “unofficial videographer” and that she regretted not recording those priceless moments on camera.

She explained that the situation changed unexpectedly when she returned to her Airbnb to change her clothes before the wedding reception. Soon after relaxing and changing her attire at her lodging, she phoned an Uber but entered the erroneous address, leading to her arriving at a location around 25 minutes away from the original site.

“Once I got there, I sprinted into the hall because I knew I was running late, and immediately no one looked familiar, which is fine because I’m coming from out of town, so I didn’t know a lot of the wedding guests,” Mala explained.

However, she became suspicious when she noticed the wedding welcome sign that read “Congratulations Caitlin and Stephen,” and she says, “It didn’t dawn on me until later that I’m actually at the wrong venue.”

She hurriedly booked another Uber trip, but she was able to meet the groom, the bride’s brother, and the bride herself at the wedding destination. They not only talked with her but also offered her to join them for a drink, which was a surprising turn of events.
