The Indiana father accused of gross negligence for allowing rats to nearly eat his baby alive in his house of horrors once bragged about how his temper goes “from zero to prison” in a short time.
David Schonabaum’s disturbing 2021 missive is among newly discovered social media posts that offer a disturbing glimpse of the family and their severely decrepit home.
“I avoid shit because I’m afraid of me, not you,” read Schonabaum’s post from March 26, 2021. “Temper goes from zero to prison very quickly.”
Although police documents obtained by The Post show that Schonabaum is indeed a convicted felon, he never went to prison.
In 2021, he entered into a plea deal for possession of methamphetamine and was given a one-year suspended sentence, which he served on house arrest and completed community service.
Schonabaum, his wife Angel Renee Schonabaum and his sister, Delania Thurman, are charged with child neglect after authorities found the 6-month-old boy with more than 50 rat bites across his body, with his tiny fingers gnawed off. down to the bone, according to reports.

The tragic boy was flown to an Indianapolis hospital, where he was treated and given a blood transfusion after his body temperature dropped to 93.5 degrees, according to police records.
His current condition was not immediately available Friday evening.
Evansville police spokesman Sgt. Anna Gray called the horrific incident one of the most serious cases of child neglect she had seen in her decades-long career.
The Schonabaums lived in a town house reportedly owned by a cousin, with the baby and two other children, ages 3 and 6, and Thurman’s children, ages 2 and 5.
Police went to the home on September 13 and found the baby injured.
Videos posted online by Angel Schonabaum in recent months show the disorganized state of the house, with children sitting on the floor among debris, electrical wires and garbage bags.

According to an Evansville police report, police were called to the home in June after a relative threatened to “blow up his house over the phone.”
It is unclear who the alleged culprit was and police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
