Why do dust storms occur?

Although these dust storms look a lot like a tornado, they are different categories of sand storms. When these dust storms occur out of nowhere on a clear, warm day, they are known as dust storms. However, tornadoes form from storms called supercells and are often propelled by rotating updrafts.

According News19, “A dust devil forms when the sun heats the Earth’s surface. As the air near the surface warms, it rises, leaving a vacuum near the surface. This creates a low pressure area where air rushes in to fill this void.”

When this low pressure atmosphere is generated, the speed of the air flow around it increases, causing the air circulation to collect dust and dirt around the whirlwind. When the surfaces continue to heat up in such a situation, the airflow speed continues to increase.
